What to Expect for SAP services
Services:
PDF Assessments has a SAP that provides:
An initial employee drug and/or alcohol assessment
Referral for education and/or treatment,
Follow-up evaluation
Follow up testing plan.
Evaluation
The substance abuse evaluation consists of a face-to-face clinical assessment to determine which level of substance abuse education or treatment is necessary.
Validated substance use assessment tools are utilized
Referral
Following the evaluation, the SAP will refer the employee to the appropriate education or level of substance use treatment program.
The employer will be informed, in writing, of the necessary requirements and the program to which the employee was referred.
Follow-up Evaluation
When the employee has completed the recommended education/treatment, a face-to-face follow-up evaluation is completed by the same SAP.
The SAP will re-evaluate the employee to determine if the employee adequately complied with and completed the recommended education and/or treatment. The SAP will communicate this information to the employer in writing.
Employees who demonstrate compliance may be referred back to the employer and cleared for a return to duty test. A return to duty test is then performed before the employee is able to resume any safety sensitive function.
Return to Duty Test
Once the employee has successfully completed all of the requirements outlined by the SAP, the employee must produce a negative screen for an observed return to duty test.
The employee must submit a negative drug test and/or alcohol test with before resuming performance of safety sensitive positions.
It is the employer's decision to return an employee to a safety sensitive position.
